Interview for Dutch radio NPO 1 about Georgia

On 16 december Beata Bruggeman-Sekowska in her capacity as the founder of the Central and Eastern Europe Center was invited by Dutch Public Radio NPO1 for an hour-long interview with Merel Wielaert on the situation in Georgia, building on her earlier publication in a Dutch newspaper Trouw titled “Georgia Also Fights for the Safety of Europe.”

During the interview, she emphasized the urgent need for the West to support Georgia, examined the historical context of Russian oppression behind the Iron Curtain and highlighted the vital contributions of Poland and Lithuania to NATO defense spending.

Georgia, a strategically crucial nation, is at the forefront of the broader conflict between Russia and Europe. Like Ukraine and Moldova, it faces relentless Russian attempts to stifle democracy, freedom and European values. The West must not repeat its 2014 hesitation in Ukraine, which led to prolonged instability. Let us not forget: since 2008, Russia has occupied 20% of Georgia—Abkhazia and South Ossetia. For many days, Georgians have protested for free and fair elections and a future in the EU.
